Utlising 3M's 100g insulation, the new Hybrid Jacket and Insulated Gilet are designed to offer the perfect layering soultion for changeable weather conditions. The beauty of this insulation is its bulk is much less than traditional fillings, so comfort is greatly improved and when worn as part of a layering system, the wearer has much more flexibility. This means casting and general movement is easier.
The other major plus point of 100g insulation is that being manmade, when used with suitable base layers, it regulates the wearer's overall body temperature. Many anglers don't pay particular attention to this but when you're moving continuously or are being battered by the conditions, it's easy to overheat and dehydrate, even in cooler conditions, which will affect your overall performance. On the flipside, if moisture isn't wicked away from the skin, your core temparture can be affected, which aside from also affecting your ability to function (particularly when it's cold), this can be very dangerous in sub-zero temparetures where hyopthermia can set in. In short, body temperature control is massively important to help you enioy your time on the water and keep your focus.
The Insulated Gilet features zipped pockets plus a zipped chest pocket for additional storage of valuables, and is designed with a high neck to ensure the wearer can cut out wind chill around the neck. Cleverly, it can be packed down into its own pocket so can be stored easily, essential when you want to travel light and keep bulk to a minimum. It also features a DWR finish that offers some protection against light rain and moisture and being constructed from RipStop nylon, will stand up to the rigours of life on the bank.
The Hybrid Jacket features also features the same eye-catching insulation panelling on the front and rear, and the same RipStop material for toughness. However, it also features arms and other key areas that feature 10% Spandex to give flexinility to the cut, and allow the user to have plenty of movement without the garment riding up uncomfortably. Elasticated cuffs cut out drafts and a high collar means it's the perfact accompanyment to an outer shell jacket.
